In preparation for the upcoming 6th Regional Health Research Conference which will be held on April 28, 2017, the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium, through the Research Utilization Committee (RUC) in partnership with the Capability Building Committee (CBC), conducted a Training on Podium and Poster Presentation intended for the student and professional researchers whose studies were pre-evaluated and were qualified to present during the said conference.

The training’s objective is to edify the researchers’ knowledge and skills in the formal conduct of Podium and Poster Presentation. It also aimed to identify possible modifications to improve the presentations for Podium and Poster that the researchers are currently developing for the Regional Conference.

The assembly began with an introduction of the Consortium, its functions and member institutions, and roll call on the participants conveyed by Mr. Jake Olsim, CRHRDC Staff. This was followed by the brief welcoming remarks, overview of the activity, and introduction of the speaker presented by Ms. Virginia Anceno, Chair of the RUC.

The morning session was filled with very informative lectures focusing on the proper dissemination of research results and/or findings through podium and poster presentations accompanied by the guidelines for the Regional Conference which was imparted by the resource speaker and Chair of the CBC, Dr. Erlinda C. Palaganas. She reiterated the importance of producing research outputs which should be the ultimate goal of the researchers. These research outputs should then be propagated to the respective participants involved in the studies as pointed out by Dr. Palaganas. Subsequently, Ms. Anceno discussed the criteria for the podium and poster presentations that will be used during the upcoming conference.

In the afternoon session, the participants were divided into groups for the Podium and Poster Presentation workshop. Critics and feedbacks were generated from the speakers, facilitators, and participants themselves based on the learnings from the lectures and discussions.

The feedbacks received by the researchers at the end of the training challenged them to prepare for the Podium and Poster Presentations of their respective research studies. This encouraged them to envision their participation in the Regional Conference as a breakthrough in producing and disseminating research outputs.
